Papa
Cruise
around Papa and the other Scalloway Isles as part of the Scalloway Isles
cruise or take an evening trip - mooring and going ashore by small boat.
Before
Papa was vacated in the 1920s, it supported three or four crofts.
There
is a deep and narrow channel separating Papa from Oxna. The coast of Papa
is indented with a series of small inlets. Off the North East coast of
Papa is the Hogg of Papa and the West side of the island has a
tidal channel joining it to a fair sized islet called the West Head
of Papa.
In
May 1903, the crew of the Adelong fishing near Papa reported that a sea
monster had ruined ten of their fishing nets.
